Meet Edufiction Author, Scientist & Educator
Casper Pieters
Casper Pieters - A Journey from Natural Ecology to Digital Ecology
Casper Pieters is passionate about helping young people navigate the increasingly complex digital world. With a unique background in science communication, education, and creative writing, he creates edufictional adventure stories that spark curiosity while embedding curriculum-aligned technology themes.
His books—like his latest, the gripping novella Brain Rot!—introduce tweens and teens to urgent issues like algorithmic control, online identity, and digital manipulation through thrilling, emotionally engaging narratives. For Casper, storytelling isn’t just entertainment—it’s a form of digital empowerment.
Before turning to fiction, Casper spent two decades in television, being part of an award-winning science documentariy production team that brought complex science topics to life for global audiences. This foundation led him naturally into the classroom, where he spent over a decade building online ICT platforms for high schools, blending tech literacy with pedagogy long before it became essential.
As a certified Fictionary Developmental Editor, Casper has also helped dozens of authors shape their own stories. His narrative instincts, informed by neuroscience and classroom experience, are grounded in the belief that an engaged mind learns best—and stories are still the best tool we have to teach.
Casper’s work is also informed by a life of global adventure: restoring South Pacific islands, treasure hunting in Dutch soil, living in a Thai Buddhist cave, roller-skating across Indonesia, and riding horseback through southern Spain. These journeys give his work a grounded sense of empathy and wonder that resonates with young readers.
In the world of edufiction, Casper is the creator of two dynamic series:
Bindi and Beam (Middle Grade)
Team Savv-i (Young YA)
Each book is crafted to align with digital citizenship curricula while keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Whether addressing social media addiction, misinformation, or online ethics, these stories help kids think critically about their screens and choices.
When he’s not writing or developing educational resources, Casper collaborates with schools, librarians, and parent communities to promote media literacy, ethical tech use, and digital wellbeing. His workshops and outreach efforts build bridges between story and skill, giving young people the tools they need to be informed, resilient digital citizens.
His mission? To tell unforgettable stories that teach—and teach in ways young people will never forget.
